HSBC to fund the project through initiatives involving staff

VISAKHAPATNAM: As part of corporate social responsibility, employees of HSBC's group service centre in the city have come forward to construct a new building for Police and Public Association (PAPA) Home -- an NGO which provides residential teaching to street children.

PAPA Home takes care of 100 boys on the premises of Police Commissionerate.

At the launch of the initiative here on Monday, a memorandum of understanding was signed by Iain D Coleman, centre manager, HSBC Group Service Centre, V.S.K. Kaumudi, Commissioner of Police and Raju, president, PAPA Home.

A spokeswoman for HSBC said they would provide funds for the new home and it would be raised by various employee engagement initiatives including a walkathon that took place in April. Mr. Coleman said, "HSBC has endeavoured to support the community in each area where we operate."

Bhavana Saxena, DCP (law and order), G. Venkatram Reddy, VUDA Vice-Chairman, senior management team of HSBC Global Resourcing and members of PAPA home were present.
