VISAKHAPATNAM: Committees have been formed with higher officials for the smooth conduct of Chandanotsavam at Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy temple at Simhachalam on May 16, Tribal Welfare Minister P. Balaraju has said.
Notwithstanding the scorching mid-summer heat, a large number of devotees from the neighbouring districts and states throng Simhachalam to worship the presiding deity in his ‘nijarupa', visible only on Vaisakha Sudhha Tritiya or Tadiya.
During a visit to the temple to oversee arrangements on Friday, the Minister said in view of the past experiences in the fete, instead of only the devasthanam officials conducting the utsav, other departments were involved this year.
Mr. Balaraju saw the queue complex, parking and the VIP darshan arrangements and Executive Officer Prem Kumar explained the details to him.
After seeing the works inside the temple and outside of it, the Minister made some suggestions.
Particular interests should be paid to transportation, sanitation and drinking water.
Joint Collector Pola Bhaskar said for protocol a committee was formed with the additional joint collector, RDO and other officials. For queue complexes, parking and bus management also teams were formed.
All the supervising officials would be given 20 wireless sets. Precautions were being taken to prevent any problems to women, the aged and children, he added.
Bhimunipatnam MLA M. Srinivasa Rao, RDO K. Prabhakara Rao, former MLAs T. Gurumurthy Reddy and Karri Sitaram participated.
