The Telangana Gazetted Officers’ Association has demanded that the State government drop its proposal to merge Bhadrachalam division with East Godavari as all the Gram Panchayats in the division passed resolutions to remain in Telangana region.
Association president V. Srinivas Goud submitted the original copies of the resolutions passed by 147 gram panchayats to the Chief Secretary for forwarding them to the Group of Ministers on Telangana, here on Thursday.
Mr.Goud said that under the 1/70 Act, the tribal villages had special rights over their land and they would remain in Khammam district.
Meanwhile, the TGOs Association also deputed official teams to the tribal villages to elicit their opinions over the merger and the villagers revealed that the Sarpanches and Ward Members had already passed resolutions against the merger proposal.
