With the allotment of symbols to candidates in the panchayat elections by the State Election Commission, electioneering has reached a feverish pitch. Candidates with their workers hit the road all over the district. The incessant rains failed to dampen the spirit of the candidates.
YSRC MLA Alla Kalikrishna Srinivas (Nani) took part in the campaigning at Chodimella village by crisscrossing slushy roads and pools of rainwater. TDP leader and former chairperson of the Eluru Municipal Corporation Puppala Jagadish Babu led the campaigning for his party’s candidate K. Manikyala Rao in Sanivarapupeta gram panchayat.
Opposition to candidate
The TDP campaign, however, was marked by a meeting of a section of its sympathisers from Sriramnagar, Katta Subbaraotota and Satavahana Nagar under the Sanivarapupeta gram panchayat expressing their opposition to the candidature of Mr. Manikyala Rao.
The ruling party at M.M. Puram, the native village of Tourism Minister Vatti Vasantakumar, and Kommu Chikkala from which Social Welfare Minister Pitani Satyanarayana hail, is locked in a battle with the TDP and the YSRC. The YSRC MLC Meka Seshu Babu and his counterpart from the rival TDP Angara Ramamohan Rao have hit the campaign trail in support of their spouses in the fray at their native village of Kapavaram under Palacole mandal.
In I. Bhimavaram in Akiveedu mandal, the native village of Narsapur LS member and TTD Chairman Kanumuri Bapi Raju, the election is unanimous this time also.
