Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Panabaka Lakshmi on Thursday reiterated that she would seek a reelection from Bapatla (SC) Lok Sabha constituency. The Minister told reporters on the premises of Inspection Bungalow that she was hopeful of winning again in Bapatla. Ms. Lakshmi, a two-time MP from Nellore, was fielded from Bapatla (reserved) constituency in the 2009 general election and much to the surprise of her detractors, sailed home with a comfortable majority of over 60,000 votes. She was immediately elevated as Union Minister of State. With another senior MP, J.D Seelam presently holding Rajya Sabha membership, the Minister is set to have a smooth sailing within the party.

Ms.Lakshmi went on to say that she has secured a major project to develop a handloom hub between Chebrolu and Bhattiprolu. She had also taken an initiative to develop the tourist potential in Suryalanka beach front in Bapatla.

A major beach festival would be held in the third week of June for which Union Minister of Tourism K. Chiranjeevi was expected to attend.
