The Centre is fully geared to provide cooking gas to all consumers on demand, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Panabaka Lakshmi said on Thursday.
Talking to reporters here, she said the whole exercise of linking cooking gas supply to Aadhaar card was to ensure that the cooking gas connections were not misused. The Centre incurred a whopping Rs 1,67,000 crore as subsidy for petroleum products in 2012-13, she explained.
She said the Centre had sought allotment of 3000 acres from the state government for setting up new petroleum refining units.
Earlier, taking part in the ''Indiramma Kalalu'' programme at Patimedapalem, near Chimakurthi in Prakasam district, she patted the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government for providing statutory backing to the SC/ST sub-plans for the first time in the country.
With this there would be no dearth of funds for providing education and health to SCs and STs and improving civic infrastructure facilities in their colonies, she said.
She urged people to make best of the Amma Hastham scheme to provide nine essential commodities at a subsidised rate of rs 185.
The Minister along with S.N.Padu MLA B.N.Vijaykumar, inaugurated a rs 76 lakh cement road and rs 25 lakh drinking water scheme in the village and a rs 1.20 crore 33/11 kv sub-station at P.Naidupalem.
