Congress-led UPA government’s decision to divide Andhra Pradesh is justified, feels Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Panabaka Lakshmi, but claims that she is an integrationist at heart.

Addressing a press conference at Gudivada in Krishna district, her hometown, on Sunday, the Union Minister of State said that she never favoured the division of Andhra Pradesh, but would not go against the decision of AICC president Sonia Gandhi.

“A decision has been taken on the division of the State and I will abide by the party line, ensuring that people in Andhra region do not get neglected,” she said. The division will allow Seemandhra region to develop into a better region in all aspects, she opined.

Giving an example from Hindu mythology, she said that the Congress would not leave people from Seemandhra region to live in forests like the Pandavas as it is being surmised if the division takes place.

She promised to take care of the unemployment problem.
