Sixth day of the nine-day Kartheeka Brahmotsavams concludes
Goddess Padmavathi went around town on the ‘Sarva Bhoopala Vahanam’ in the morning, golden chariot in the afternoon and the ‘Garuda Vahanam’ in the evening on Thursday, the sixth day of the nine-day annual Kartheeka Brahmotsavams at Tiruchanur here on Thursday.
Dressed in the robes of Sri Venugopala, the deity was taken in a procession on a golden canopy-like structure during Sarva Bhoopala Seva, which presents the majesty of the deity as the supreme ruler of the universe. After ‘Snapana Tirumanjanam’ to the idol in Sri Krishna Mukha Mandapam in the temple, ‘Swarna Rathotsavam’ was performed when the deity was seated atop the gold-gilded chariot and dragged by the devotees around the temple.
Late in the evening, ‘Garuda Vahanam’ was performed when the goddess rode the golden-winged kite.
As Garuda is also known for his ethics in correcting evil-doers, it is believed by the devotees that worshipping the goddess on Garuda will serve as an act of atonement and wash off one’s sins done in the past.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams board members L. R. Sivaprasad and G. V. Sreenatha Reddy presented silk vastrams to the deity.
TTD Chairman K. Bapi Raju, special grade Deputy Executive Officer A. Surya Kumari, Deputy Executive Officer (Padmavathi temple) Gopalakrishna and Assistant Executive Officer Venugopal took part.
