Tirupati: On the second day of the annual Brahmotsavams at the Tiruchanur temple, `Pedda sesha vahanam' was performed when the deity of Goddess Padmavathi was taken on a seven-hooded serpent around the temple on Saturday morning.

Mythologically, `Adisesha' is revered as the serpent-servant of Lord Maha Vishnu, which acts as the seat, while its hood provides the canopy for the divine couple.

The procession was aimed at throwing light on the sincerity of `Adisesha' in the service of his mistress. In the evening, the Goddess was dressed up as `Saraswathi', and taken in a procession.
