GUNTUR: Some 500 people will set out from Indira Gandhi statue at Gujjannagundla in the city on a padayatra to Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s padayatra from Chevella to Itchapuram on April 9.
The former VGTMUDA Chairman Vishnuvardhan along with former APIIDC Chairman Ambati Rambabu, Marketyard Chairman and Tadikonda MLA Dokka Manikya Vara Prasada Rao told reporters here on Friday that Congressmen from Guntur district would participate in the ‘padayatra’ that would begin at 9 a.m. and reach Vijayawada via Peakakani and Mangalagiri at 4 p.m. in time for the public meeting organised there to commemorate the anniversary.
Some of them like Mr. Rambabu, Lagadapati Rajagopal and TTD Chairman Karunakar Reddy along with Undavalli Arun Kumar would participate in the public meeting. An exhibition of Jalayagnam and Indiramma programmes would be organised at the venue and for those walking from Guntur to Vijayawada, food would be arranged at Pedakakani.
