The Tourism Department of Andhra Pradesh has finally decided to offer tourism packages to promote temple and leisure tourism in Srikakulam with budget hotels in Srikakulam and Kalingapatnam nearing completion.

The budget hotel in Srikakulam is expected to be completed by June, 2013. The hotel, which is located on Arasavilli road, will have 24 rooms with ample parking area. Kalingapatnam hotel will be ready by January 2013.

Tourist buses will be operated from Visakhapatnam to cover temples such as Arasavilli, Srikurmam, Srimukhalingam and tourist attractions like Kalingapatnam and Salihundam. At present, tourists and pilgrims are facing difficulties due to lack of direct bus facility to cover all the important places.

Tourism Special Chief Secretary Chandana Khan inspected the progress of both hotels on Wednesday and directed the engineering officials to complete the work in time stipulated. She suggested changes in the structure to provide see view to tourists from the hotel in Kalingapatnam. “Huge glasses will be fixed instead of regular windows. The sea view from the Kalingapatnam hotel would provide immense delight to tourists,” she said.

Jobs for locals

She asked the official concerned to provide jobs to locals in both the hotels. Tourism Executive Director Madhusudan, Srikakulam Revenue Divisional Officer G. Ganesh, Srikakulam Tourism Officer L. Ramesh and others accompanied the Special Chief Secretary.
