Majlis president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Saturday to inform him about the withdrawal of his party’s support to the Congress government.
Mr. Owaisi was closeted with the Governor for over 15 minutes during which he briefed Mr. Narasimhan about the circumstances in which the MIM, an ally of the ruling Congress for the last 14 years, had to part ways.
Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi informed the Governor of the series of communal incidents in the State, especially those occurring at the time of Bakrid festival and the latest disturbances in the State capital over Bhagya Laxmi temple issue in old city.
Though the MIM had not submitted a letter of support to the Governor at the time of formation of the Congress government, the MIM had to put on record the withdrawal of support, as it had voted against a no-confidence motion in the State Assembly in December 2011.
