He reiterates his promises to women, jobless
People wait for him patiently till midnight at Sitampeta
New township for evacuees promised
Srikakulam: There was overwhelming response to the Mee Kosam programme of the opposition leader, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who entered the district on Saturday. His roadside meetings started at a small village in S.Narsipuram in Veeraghattam mandal. He was delayed by more than three hours but people in large numbers waited patiently till midnight at Sitampeta.
Similarly the meetings at Kottru, Parapuram, Metturu and Heeramandalam on Sunday evening had also evoked huge response. At the meetings at Veeraghattam, Palakonda and a dozen other places, Mr.Naidu repeated his slew of promises to farmers, women, unemployed youth, SCs, STs, BCs and other sections and there was nothing new. He concentrated on price hike which had gone through the roof.
‘The only way to bring down prices was to bring down Congress Governments in New Delhi and Hyderabad’ he said. He apprehended one more dose of price hike for petrol and petroleum products.
Loans for ryots
The opposition leader, who had been talking of farmers welfare, made in interesting statement at Kotturu meeting. ‘Take loans but don’t repay. My Government will write of all loans of farmers’. At the next meeting at Paraapuram, where a reservoir of Vamsadhara project was coming, Mr.Naidu asked evacuees to come to the dais and speak. They wanted fair compensation for their lands and houses.
They also demanded rehabilitation colonies near Pathapatnam.
He promised a special package for all the affected persons because of irrigation.
A new township would be constructed to rehabilitate all evacuees. Mr Party district unit president and MLA, Gouthu Shyamsundar Sivaji, party MP, Kinjarapu Yerrannaidu, local MLA, Kalamata Mohana Rao and others were present.
