Continuing their cleaning the city programme, students of Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) lifted garbage at the Training Centre for Visually Handicapped in the Government Polytechnic, Secunderabad, that had become a dumping yard for the local residents.
A group of OUJAC students visited the training centre and lifted garbage and later represented to the GHMC Zonal Commissioner. “We were astonished to see the centre becoming a dumping yard and officials refusing to lift garbage citing shortage of funds,” said M. Krishank, OUJAC spokesperson. He said students were asked to put up with filth and nauseating smell during classes and exams. He said the OU students later met the GHMC Zonal Commissioner, who promised to get the premises cleaned within 24 hours.
