Ordeal by road

Most of the BT roads in Guntur town are known for their unworthy condition to the commuters. Of late a few of them were newly laid down in which the famous ring-road was one among them. But to the sheer surprise an onlooker found the outer layer peeling off at several places. The recent heavy rains made the situation more alarming. This being the case, to add fuel to fire, the municipal contingent while giving tap connections or repair leakages dugs it up and fills it superficially with the same soil with out proper BT or cement coverage although they collect hefty repair charges. This has resulted in deep trenches. I therefore request the authorities to adapt the Chennai Municipal Corporation's policy to cement such trenches at odd hours on the same day itself.

Welcome measure

The recent sanction by Central government of 10 per cent increase in basic pay as dearness allowance and dearness relief to the staff in service and pensioners was a welcome measure. As a policy in vogue the state government sanctions 0.856 per cent of DA and DR for every enhancement to its employees and retired ones. Happy to understand the state exchequer is also fairly well versed with the collections of revenue and other sources of income under the successful rule of the Chief Minister K. Rosaiah. Hence the government is urged to sanction 0.856 per cent of DA and DR to the in service employees and for the pensioners soon in view of the spiralling prices of essential commodities.

Check this

After a month-long awareness campaign on road safety and traffic rules a large number of pedestrians are being killed. The number of two-wheeler riders being killed in road accidents also remains unchanged. The killers are not only using the roads as sport grounds but also they have been creating havoc literally. The reckless behaviour and indifference has to be checked by the police. We are now passing the age of technology to welfare age. But with the vehicle users attitude it seems that we moving towards a dangerous age all the way.
