TDP MP pledges to dedicate his life for the uplift of BC
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP and former Minister T. Devender Goud on Saturday asserted here that only Telangana, and not any package, was acceptable to the people of the region.
Talking to press persons on the sidelines of the seventh State conference of Electricity Backward Classes Employees’ Welfare Association (EBCEWA), he said the Centre should declare statehood as wished by the people. He pledged to dedicate his life for the uplift of BCs. R. Krishnaiah, president of AP State BC Welfare Association, who addressed the conference along with Mr. Goud, called upon the Centre to introduce a bill in Parliament on reservations for BCs in Parliament and Assemblies. He threatened to attack Parliament if the demand was not conceded by the Government. Mr. Krishnaiah demanded a sub-plan for BCs on the lines of the recently adopted SC/ST sub-plan. Addressing the conference, both the leaders called for unity among BCs, lack of which was depriving them political power. They said political parties should allot tickets to BCs on the basis of their share in the population.
"We should agitate for securing reservations. The Government should think of introducing laws to provide political reservations for BCs", the leaders stressed.
At the conference, Mr. Krishnaiah released a diary brought out by the association. Bikshamaiah Goud, Alair MLA, ‘Current’ Rao, general secretary of the Electricity BC Employees’ Association, was among those who attended the conference.
