Observing that academic research was playing an important role in the overall development of the nation, Vice-Chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) G. Tulasi Ram Das on Wednesday said only 30 per cent of the total students in India were opting for the research. Addressing the inaugural of the fortnight-long audit course on ‘Research Methodologies and Intellectual Property Rights and Patents’ organized by the Directorate of Research and Development of the JNTUK, Prof. Das felt that there was an immediate need to encourage students towards higher studies and research.
