Chief Justice of High Court Nissar Ahmad Kakru on Wednesday was not inclined to entertain the request of the CBI for considering the application filed by it wherein it sought a direction to club all the cases pertaining to Obulapuram Mining Corporation (OMC) together so that one judge could hear all of them.
It may be recalled that on Monday, a single judge heard at length two criminal petitions questioning the order of the CBI court remanding OMC director Gali Janardhan Reddy to prison. There are writ petitions filed by rival claimants and petitions challenging the initiation of CBI inquiry into whole issue. The CBI now wants all these cases be heard together.
As soon as the mention was made by the counsel for the CBI, the counsel for Janardhan Reddy took serious exception. He alleged that the CBI was changing the stand. He raised the question whether such a request could be made when the Chief Justice was sitting single without making it clear whether this request was made on administrative side or on the judicial side.
The request made by the CBI to consider the application was not entertained.
