Former Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao and Collector Saurabh Gaur on Sunday hoped that India would get at least 20 medals in the 2020 Olympics with increasing awareness on sports in the country.
They said that state-of-the-art infrastructure was being created in Srikakulam district to encourage youngsters to prove their talent in sports and games.
Mr. Prasada Rao said sports and games would make people fit.
He cautioned people against adopting western style of living which was not suitable for Indian conditions. Olympic Run was organised from Potti Sriramulu junction to KR Stadium.
The former Minister flagged off the rally. Mr. Gaur carried the Olympic torch to the stadium. They felicitated veteran players Neelamsetty Appanna and G. Shyamsundara Rao.
Narasannapeta MLA Dharmana Krishnadas, Srikakulam Olympic Association vice-president Simma Rajasekhar, former municipal chairperson M.V. Padmavati participated in the event.
