Zilla Parishad chairman A. Venkata Swamy urged the civil supplies officials to streamline the public distribution system in the district as well as the general market.
Addressing the Food Advisory Committee meeting here on Wednesday, he said monitoring of PDS should be stepped up to ensure efficiency. He said in most of the instances the general traders did not use correct weights causing loss to consumers. The Civil supplies and legal metrology officials should ensure that traders used electronic balances.
He suggested that before taking any stringent action, the problems of FP dealers should be solved so that the result could be obtained without any friction.
MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy said monitoring should be intensified over the transport of commodities from mandal point to the FP shops. He pointed out that at many places, the FP shops were not located in a convenient place where even women could visit and collect provisions. Joint Collector Jyothi M. Buddha Prakash, DCC secretary M.
