Contractors directed to speed up works at housing complex
Municipal Commissioner G. Ravi Babu has ordered officials concerned to allot flats to beneficiaries of Gulabithota immediately on completion of the construction of the Jakkampudi housing complex.
The Commissioner, along with Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, visited the Jakkampudi area and inspected the houses meant for the beneficiaries. He instructed the officials to complete the remaining works and hand over the flats to the beneficiaries who were residing at other places temporarily.
He also ordered the officials of the town planning and housing executive engineer to meet the beneficiaries and explain them the details of the original allotment and temporary list. “Steps should be taken to see that all beneficiaries go to the temporary places allotted for them,” he said. He asked the contractors to complete the works speedily and that all the pending bills would be cleared soon. City planner Vidyullatha, Assistant City Planner Prabhakar Rao, and engineering officials were present.
CPI city secretary K. Subba Raju said VMC officials should not take steps to shift the Gulabithota beneficiaries to any temporary location. They should allot to them only those flats that were originally identified for them. He said that the beneficiaries should not be asked to move till power and other basic facilities were provided at the housing complex. Along with AIYF city general secretary Navaneetham Sambasiva Rao and other CPI leaders, Mr. Subba Raju visited the displaced houses of Gulabithota beneficiaries and assured them of their support till they were shifted to the locations promised to them. Meanwhile, Mr. Malladi Vishnu asked the officials to take steps for making the owners of individual houses at the VAMBAY Colony to clear the payment of loans due to the banks. The MLA held discussions with the Commissioner, other VMC officials, and representatives of the banks on this issue.
