Kakinada: Five villages, predominantly fishermen habitats in I. Polavaram mandal, are in the grip of viral fever with almost every household getting affected.

In this regard, Joint Collector M. Dana Kishore, accompanied by Mummidivaram MLA Pinipe Viswaroop, visited Bhiravapalem village on Wednesday.

Mr. Kishore found that unhygienic conditions prevailing in the village and lack of drainage system were responsible for the spread of viral fever.

He said that the storage of water in households for days together has aggravated the problem.


He said viral fever was prevalent in about thirty villages and every effort was being made to create awareness among the people . In this regard, he instructed the MDO of I. Polavaram to convene village-wise meetings of women's groups.
