The 210 MW 5th generating unit at Narla Tatarao Thermal Power Station tripped on Thursday, leading to sudden drop in the total generating capacity to 1,320 MW from the installed capacity of 1,760 MW. A leak in the boiler tube led to the tripping of the unit. Maintenance staff of the NTTPS were on the job of putting the unit back into operation, said Chief Engineer Kishore Babu.
The unit was likely to commence production from the early hours of Friday. The Unit 1 of 210 MW generating capacity, which is under repair, was likely to go on stream in another three to four days, Mr. Babu added.
