Raghupathi Venkaiah award for Vijayanirmala

HYDERABAD: Eminent heroine of yesteryears Jamuna has been chosen for the NTR National Film Award to be given by the State government for the year 2008.

The B.N. Reddy National Film Award will be given to renowned director K.B. Tilak, while the Nagi Reddy-Chakrapani National Film Award will go to producer A. Ramesh Prasad. Actress-director Vijayanirmala will receive the Raghupathi Venkaiah award for the year 2008, a press note from the Andhra Pradesh State Film Television and Theatre Development Corporation said on Thursday.

All the four awardees have been announced on Thursday by a committee constituted by the government under the chairmanship of eminent film personality G. Aadiseshagiri Rao, and comprising members K.C. Sekhar Babu, Giribabu and N. Sankar. MD of the APSFTTDC C. Parthasarathi was the coordinator.

Ms. Jamuna will receive Rs.5 lakh cash prize along with memento and citation, while all the others will be given Rs.2 lakh cash prize along with memento and citation each at the Film Nandi awarding ceremony at Lalitha Kala Thoranam on March 16.
