US-based Rama Naidu presents medals to toppers
Tirupati: Bogineni Chenchu Rama Naidu has hit upon a ‘golden idea’ to encourage engineering students to make it big in life. Literally...!
Mr. Bogineni, who did his B.Tech in Electronics and Communications in Sri Venkateswara University College of Engineering (SVUCE) in 1975-80, is now the President and Chief Executive Officer of Bogineni Corporation, a New Jersey-based computer solutions provider.
In order to kindle interest among the students to aim for the moon, he is presenting gold medals to top rankers of his alma mater in all the six branches of engineering viz., ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Computer Science, Civic and Chemical.
Not just a one-time affair, he is getting down to make it an annual event. In fact, he got prepared gold medals sufficient to meet the requirement for the next 15 years.
“The 24-carat gold medals were made at the best private mint in the US using state-of-the-art design and three dimensional features.
Also, the quality and looks are on a par with the medal that comes with the Pulitzer Prize,” a brimming Naidu C.R. Bogineni told The Hindu.
He gave away the gold medals for the year 2006-07 to M. Eswar Rao (Chemical), K. Srilakshmi (Civil), V. Rajesh (Computer Science Engg), T. Srivani (EEE), M. Swapna (ECE) and M.A.Vinod Kumar (Mechanical) at a simple function on Tuesday.
“My aim is to encourage Government engineering college students to excel in their respective disciplines and take on the ever-competitive corporate world”. Indeed, he has got a heart of gold!
