After the famed ‘Lakshmi Haram’ of Tirumala was taken out in a colourful procession from the hills to Srinivasa Mangapuram for use in the temple during Brahmotsavams, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) got the ‘Srivari Padalu’ (golden sheath covering the feet of the deity) in an equally grand procession ahead of the annual fete at its Sri Kodandarama temple.
Carrying the ‘holy feet’ on his head, TTD Joint Executive Officer P. Venkatrami Reddy led the parade from Alipiri to the temple, passing through SV Medical College and Komalamma Satram. The aim is to add grandeur to the festival held in the local temples akin to Tirumala, apart from creating the festive mood among the denizens. “The rare ornaments are rarely brought out of the temple and it is an opportunity for the devotees to take a glimpse of them,” the officials blared through the microphone, inviting the public to take a closer look at the ornament.
Chief Vigilance and Security Officer G.V.G. Ashok Kumar, Assistant Executive Officer Chinnamgari Ramana and others took part.
