Union Minister of State for Petrol and Natural Gas Panabaka Lakshmi on Wednesday launched the sale of five-kilo LPG cylinders, to be sold at company-owned- and-operated petrol stations in the city.
Ms. Lakshmi launched the product at an HPCL outlet in Kushaiguda, in presence of Uppal MLA Raji Reddy.
Outside the metros, Hyderabad is the first city to be extended the feature.
The product is expected to benefit people who need gas in urgency and cannot approach oil marketing companies that distribute cylinders through their network.
The initiative allows sale of cylinders at market price with merely any Proof of Identity (POI).
The sale will be done with or without a regulator.
Initial charges for a cylinder would be Rs.1,655 (inclusive of applicable taxes) and Rs.262.50 for the regulator.
Subsequently, customers can purchase refill at Rs.510 as per current non-domestic rates applicable in the market.
Outlets covered in the city include HPCL outlet at NSIC Khusaiguda, IOCL outlet at SP Road, Begumpet and BPCL outlets at Lalitha Fuel Point, Raidurg and Cyberabad Filling Station, Hitech city.
Few more are expected to be added soon.
