Marking the 50th day of the agitation demanding unified Andhra Pradesh State, activists of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of employees, teachers and workers on Wednesday staged novel protest in the city. Employees of the Integrated Child Development Scheme resorted to a road blockade in front of the Collectorate, where they divided into small groups and played different games.
The teachers, in a separate agitation camp recited songs and poems opposing the proposed division of the State. The relay fast by the JAC members continued in the fasting camp, where the JAC members performed ‘Vinayaka Pooja’ and sought the blessings of the lord for the cause of unified State.
The JAC leaders lambasted the government for not even responding to the protests continued by the employees of various government departments, who sacrificed their salaries. They made it clear that the agitation would continue till the government rolled back its decision on the proposed division.
The members of the JNTUK JAC cleaned the roads in front of the University, registering their protest against the nonchalant attitude of the government towards the agitations in the Seemandhra region. The general body of the Telugu Desam Party’s district unit chalked out plans for staging agitations in various parts of the district till the month-end. The party is extending total support to the call given by the JAC to observe bandh on September 24.
