Andhra Pradesh continued to get a raw deal with no major project announced in the Railway Budget.

Two projects at Kurnool-- a Coach Mid-Life Rehabilitation (MLR) Workshop and a Diesel Electric Multiple Unit Car Shed -- a ‘Rail Neer’ bottling plant in Vijayawada, an Indian Railways Institute of Financial Management in Secunderabad and another facility for imparting skills for youth in Railway-related trades at Kazipet, are among the proposals announced for the SCR on Tuesday. As for additional services, 11 new trains will originate in the zone, including eight express and three passenger services. Eight new express and an equal number of passenger trains will pass through SCR, besides increase in frequency of several originating trains. However, the proposals failed to impress the Opposition and drew wide-ranging criticism from different parties whose leaders alleged that nothing significant was achieved despite Minister of State for Railways K. Jayasuryaprakash Reddy hailing from the State.
