HYDERABAD: Norms to be followed under the 31 lift irrigation schemes have been finalised, with plan to cover an extent of 15,000 acres with one tmcft (thousand million cubic ft) of water.

One norm will make it mandatory for farmers to use sprinklers and drips under these lift schemes and sow only irrigated dry crops.

However, the purchase of sprinklers and drips by farmers belonging to SCs/STs will be fully subsidised by the government, while the subsidy in case of others will be 90 per cent. As part of an action plan prepared to implement the micro-irrigation project, Water Users’ Associations will necessarily be formed under all the lift schemes to ensure optimal use of the water.
