Chief Minister to take up exercise around Dasara time
The long overdue exercise of filling nominated posts in the government is expected to be taken up by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy sometime around Dasara which falls on October 24.
The party has reportedly taken a stand not to consider MLAs and MLCs for these posts as the leadership is keen on giving due recognition to committed party workers. Leaders belonging to the Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies reserved for the SCs and STs may get some preference this time in order to give representation to non-dalit leaders. Those who are active in constituencies where party lost the elections are also likely to get priority.
It is close to five years since the then Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy appointed partymen to positions in government-run corporations. Mr. Kiran Reddy has filled very few posts. These include the appointment of Sitaramaraju, a Congress leader as the member of AP Public Service Commission, besides renewing the term of Kanumuri Bapiraju as Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chairman and giving another term to N. Tulasi Reddy as chairman of 20-Point Programme.
APCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana, was given an indication about the timing of the exercise which will begin with the appointment of Chairmen of Corporations. The Chief Minister and the PCC chief have shortlisted the probables for filling vacancies in 40 corporationsIndications are that the posts of AP Women Commission, AP SC and ST Commission would be filled first. The names of former Minister Nedurumilli Rajyalakshmi and Secunderabad MLA Jayasudha are doing the rounds for heading the Women’s Commission though Mahila Congress chief Ganga Bhavani is also making a determined bid to head the body.
