SANGAREDDY: As expected, legislator T. Jayaprakash Reddy proved once again that he can command politics in the Sangareddy municipality.
The no confidence motion moved by vice-chairperson Jalaluddi Baba against chairperson B. Vijaya Lakshmi got defeated in Sangareddy municipality here on Tuesday as the required number of councillors to conduct the meeting did not turn up for the special session called by the Revenue Divisional Officer Mruthyunjaya.
The meeting started at 11 a.m. and the officials waited for 30 minutes for quorum as per regulations. Even after that, the number of members attending the special session did not exceed 12, including Vijaya Lakshmi and Jalaluddin Baba. At 11.30 a.m. the RDO announced that the no trust move as defeated.
He stated that it needs a presence of 21 members out of 31 in the council to conduct the meeting to discuss the no confidence motion.
All the 17 members who had signed on the notice served against the chairperson, did not turn up .
Those who attended the meeting included five members from TRS (including chairperson and vice-chairman), three from Congress, one from TDP, one from BJP, one from CPM and one independent.
Now it has to be seen as to how both the TDP and TRS, that issued whip to their members directing them to vote against the chairperson, would act.
Soon after the defeat of the no trust move, the supporters of Jayaprakash Reddy celebrated the victory by bursting crackers in the town.
Rumours were ripe that the MLA group is all geared to make a move against Jalaludduin Baba to depose him from the current position.
