An eight-hour blackout continued across the district for the third consecutive day on Tuesday, owing to the indefinite strike by the electricity employees.

Generation of 1,050 MW of power by five units of the Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant at Kalamalla, remained suspended for the 4{+t}{+h}day in succession, because of the strike.

Several petrol filling stations were forced to down shutters after they ran out of stocks which could not replenished because of the lack of power to run the pumps at the filling points.

However, a couple of filling stations those remained opened on the Kadapa railway station road saw long queues of vehicles.

Pump operators filled half a litre of petrol per two-wheeler as stocks would have not been enough to cater to the needs of all vehicles.
