VISAKHAPATNAM: Minister for Infrastructure, Ports and Investment M. Venkata Ramana Rao on Monday scoffed at Opposition for its criticism on coastal corridor and declared that the mega project was still in proposal stage.
He told reporters here that the Telugu Desam and other parties were instigating the farmers and fishermen to agitate without any reason and claimed that as of now, the government had not acquired an acre of land from anyone for the project. “We have not framed any policy guidelines yet. We are still thinking on taking up first phase of coastal corridor project between Visakhapatnam and Kakinada. I don’t know why the Opposition is raising a ruckus over it,” he wondered.
Discussing the Opposition tirade against the Congress government over the coastal corridor project over livelihood threat to farmers and fishermen, he said already an industrial belt had been developed in the coastal area. “We are planning to develop a parallel road to the National Highway to improve logistics,” he clarified.
