Visakhapatnam Port Trust has not received any bids for WQ North berths’ development from any private investor.

When the bids were opened on Thursday, no offer was received for WQ 7 and 8 berth mechanisation under WQ North project at a cost of Rs.393 crore. However, sources said Vedanta and Essar would be main contenders for mechanisation and augmentation of facilities at Ore Handling Complex at a cost of Rs.845 crore.

Visakha Container Terminal Private Ltd (VCTPL) is the main contender for terminal expansion at an estimated cost of Rs.633 crore. Security clearance and board of trustee approval is a must for awarding letter of selection.
