VISAKHAPATNAM: The National Institute of Oceanography is organising a one-day workshop on ‘Natural hazards and coastal processes of Indian coast’ on Wednesday.

The theme will cover the entire region of west and east coast of India. About nine lectures will be presented during the workshop covering different topics like tectonics, seismicity, storm surges, ocean engineering, paleo-climate and living and non-living resource potential of continental margins. The future plans of NIO for the next decade will be mainly based on the studies related to natural hazards and understanding the influence of climate change on oceanic biogeochemical cycling of elements such as carbon, nitrogen, sulphur through time-series observations and developing predicting models.
