Nine functionaries of the Congress and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) clashed at Dobbudupalle village in Kondapuram mandal on Wednesday over laying of a water pipeline to the village from Hepro Windpower Project nearby.

A TDP functionary, Balaramaiah Yadav, objected to the laying of the pipeline through his agricultural field and Congress activist Jayanna accused him of obstructing the work that would supply drinking water to the village. Their groups clashed with sticks and stones injuring nine persons, including Mr. Balaramaiah Yadav and Mr. Jayanna, who were rushed to the Government Hospital at Tadpatri in Anantapur district in 108 ambulance.

Case registered

Kondapuram Circle Inspector Narasimha Murthy inspected the place and Thallaprodatur police registered a case. On the request of Congress leader Jagadeka Reddy, the project officials agreed to lay a pipeline and took up work today, police said.
