KARIMNAGAR: The Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) has decided to set up a speech therapy centre in Karimnagar town to correct the speech of patients who have undergone cleft palate corrective surgery.

NIMS plastic surgery department head Mukunda Reddy convened a meeting on Tuesday with parents of the patients who underwent cleft palate surgery under the Indira Kranthi Patham programme in Karimnagar district. He said speech therapy was necessary for the patients to ensure that they spoke properly.

He said a speech therapy centre would be started in Karimnagar town.
