HYDERABAD: The Joint Action Committee of Employees, Teachers and Workers served a notice on the Andhra Pradesh Government here on Saturday conveying its decision to go on indefinite strike from May 15 to press for its pending demands.

The strike notice was handed over to Chief Secretary T. K. Dewan at the Secretariat by the JAC office-bearers led by B. V. Subba Rao, chairman. The JAC represents nearly 12 lakh employees.

The two-page notice said Government employees nursed high expectations about settlement of their legitimate demands after reaching an amicable agreement on their pay scales following the recommendations of the Pay Revision Commission. But they did not get any positive response from Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy in spite of repeated reminders to him on the pending issues.
