The District Malaria Office (DMO) and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) have jointly launched a programme to bring malaria under control, on Saturday.

The DMO and the VMC have constituted one team each to identify the people who were not taking medicines. The teams would lay emphasise on people living on footpaths and street medians. The programme was kick started at G.S. Raju Road here.

District Malaria Officer A. Rambabu said that they were taking blood smears of the people sleeping/living on footpaths and road dividers. The smears would be sent for test, and medicines would be provided on following day if required.

If anyone was found to be suffering from fever, he or she would be given Fever Radical Treatment on the spot.
