Visits offices to take stock of the situation

  • Veeraraghavamma enquires about water supply system
  • Priority areas include drainage and traffic islands

    Rajahmundry: Mayor Aadireddy Veeraraghavamma on Tuesday visited her office along with Commissioner C. Nagaraja Rao, deputy commissioner and other staff.

    First she visited the Commissioner's chamber and spent there a few minutes before visiting the offices of city planning, engineering, water works, health, sanitation, education and general administration.

    She spent most of the time in the Engineering Department and Water Works where she enquired about drinking water supply system, pumping channels, linkage schemes and storage tanks. Municipal Engineer Vinayakumar explained the functioning of the department.

    Keeping the coming rainy season in view, all drainage canals should be kept clean to see that sewage water should flow without interruption, she said and asked health officials to seriously look into the functioning of municipal health clinics and urban health centres on the outskirts.

    Speaking to media after her visit, she said that her visit was to get proper understanding about the functioning of the administration.

    She said that her priorities were five-hour drinking water supply, sanitation, underground drainage system, nalla channel pumping system and developing traffic islands in main centres.
