Focus on better road connectivity
Siddharth Jain, a 2001 batch IAS officer, has assumed charge as the 41st Collector of Khammam district here on Saturday. Prior to this, he was the Project Director, Outer Ring Road, Hyderabad.
He took charge from the outgoing Joint Collector M A Azeem, who was holding the full additional charge of the district Collector ever since the previous incumbent N. Nageshwara Rao retired from service on March 31 this year.
A native of Madhya Pradesh, Mr Jain passed M.Sc (Geology) with distinction.
Speaking to media persons soon after taking charge, the new Collector said he will pay utmost attention to ensure the grand conduct of ‘Sri Seetharama Kalyana Mahotsavam' and ‘Pushkara Pattabhisheka Mahotsavam' scheduled to be held in Bhadrachalam on April 12 and 13.
“The ensuing mega religious events would be conducted in a befitting manner and every effort would be made to provide all amenities to the devotees during the festivities,” he said in reply to a query.
Referring to his earlier stint as the Project Officer of ITDA at Paderu in Visakhapatnam district several years ago, Mr. Jain said that one of his priorities would be to develop better road connectivity to the tribal areas in the district.
"Thrust would be laid on effective implementation of the government welfare schemes so that they reach all the targeted beneficiaries," he said.
