The activists of the CPI (ML-New Democracy) have conducted door-to-door meetings and cultural demonstrations at various parts of the district on Wednesday to drum up support for the party sponsored public meeting christened as “Telangana Poru Garjana” slated to be held here on Thursday (September 22).

The activists of the party's frontal organisations, including Arunodaya cultural wing, participated in the publicity campaign aimed at making the public meeting a success.

Addressing newsmen here on Wednesday, party district secretary P Ranga Rao said the meeting was being organised to give a fillip to the ongoing indefinite strike by the government employees, teachers, APSRTC employees and others of the region under the aegis of the Telangana JAC.

"It is intended to mount pressure on the Central government take immediate steps to carve out separate Telangana state," he said.

The leaders of various constituent pro-Telangana political parties and organisations of the TJAC, including TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, BJP senior leader B. Dattatreya, TJAC chairman M. Kodandaram, and Telangana Employees JAC chairman K Swamy Goud will participate.
