VISAKHAPATNAM: A post graduate diploma programme in retail management was formally inaugurated in Andhra University here on Friday. The Department of Commerce and Management Studies of AU is running the programme in association with StraEd, a Boston-based organisation.

The total intake planned was 60 students and 32 were admitted so far and course would be run as an evening programme at present. Morning classes would also be run if more students were admitted in future. The classes would commence on April 25 as some students were yet to get loans from the bank.

Head of the Department D. Prabhakara Rao explained about the course. President of StraEd Kannan B. Rajagopalan said the course would help those aspiring to get good placements in the retail business management sector which was growing fast in India and has a lot of potential.

Director of the AU School of Distance Education P. Hrushikesava Rao and Monika, a director of StraEd and others were present.
