An automatic BP screening machine was formally brought into use on Sunday at SVIMS Super Specialty Hospital. The machine was donated to SVIMS by the former TTD trust board member O.V. Ramana, recognising the services of the cardiology department. He also announced to donate a blood sugar screening machine soon. SVIMS director B. Vengamma, speaking at the event, called blood pressure, diabetes and cancer as some of the major diseases plaguing the modern world. “BP will further lead to heart attacks, paralysis and kidney problems. If BP screening is done before the onset of the disease, precautions can be taken,” she added. Medical Superintendent V. Satyanarayana advised people suffering from hypertension to monitor their health condition through regular checkups.
