Kusalava Batteries Private Limited, a newly established unit of the Kusalava group, has launched ‘Poweron' batteries to cash in on the rising demand for durable and maintenance-free batteries, especially for vehicles.
Assistant Commissioner of Police A.V. Ramana launched the batteries in the presence of Andhra Motor Merchants Association president B.Y. Narayana Rao, Kusalava group managing director Chukkapalli Ramakrishna Prasad, automobile dealers, mechanics and others on Thursday. Mr. Prasad said ‘Poweron' batteries were being initially manufactured for two-wheelers to tap the growing market available in the form of the 10 lakh two-wheel vehicles being produced every year in the country. At a later stage, the batteries would be manufactured also for inverters and four-wheel vehicles like cars. “We intend to capture about 10 per cent of the market in AP during the first year. We will expand our distribution network to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Delhi at later stages,” he said. Mr. Prasad said ‘Poweron' batteries would have additional durability than the ones available in the market now because of use of an additive made available by an American company.
