Bajaj Auto's motorcycle Discover 125 cc was introduced into the market on Saturday by Varun group's managing director V. Prabhu Kishore here on Saturday. The DTS-I powered bike, priced at Rs. 46,525 ex-showroom has mileage and power, and filled the gap between the 100 cc bike introduced in July 2009 and the 150 cc model in May 2010, both bikes which became popular soon after their launch in the bikes market dominated by the Hero Honda executive bikes till then, said CEO of Varun Motors T. Vinod Kumar.
The 125 cc bike recorded 82 kmpl under test conditions and would give more than 70 kmpl on city roads and its sale was expected to be on a par with the 150 cc variant, which sold 35,000, and 80,000 a month reached by the 100 cc bike. Discover 125 cc is expected to cater to the needs of customers who wanted an optimum combination of mileage and power, said Mr. Prabhu Kishore.
The 125cc bike has five gears, a long wheel base to ensure maximum stability and weighing 118.5 kg, its power-weight ratio provides optimum balance of agiblity and comfort, claimed the Varun Bajaj team. It comes with drum and disc brake option and has distinct colour graphics.
