Senior citizens neglected by their children and progeny can take legal recourse to get succour , said Additional Joint Collector Seshadri.
At a function organised in connection with the “World Senior Citizens’ Day”, here on Tuesday, he said elderly persons were not getting respect in some families as joint families have disintegrated. If they were neglected by their children they could also approach Revenue Divisional Officer seeking help, he said and wanted voluntary and social service organisations to come forward to take care of senior citizens.
The Additional JC and Senior Citizens Welfare Association felicitated the elderly persons on the occasion. A medical camp under the aegis of the IMA was organised.
IMA president Dr D.L.N. Swami, Dr. Bapu Reddy and Dr. Madhusudhan attended the camp.
A retired judge Ramchander and senior citizens’ association president Ramchandra Reddy spoke.
