WARANGAL: As part of the ‘Save the Girl Child’ campaign, the members of the 10 Andhra Battalion of NCC Warangal took out a colourful rally from L.B. College to Public Gardens in Hanamkonda.
Hundreds of NCC volunteers and NCC officials participated in the rally sporting placards and raising slogans on the theme. Commanding officer Col. P. Sundareswaran flagged of the rally. Addressing the cadets, the officer said there was discrimination against girl children in the society which would result in dangerous trends in the days ahead.
There was strong imbalance in men women ratio in the society and it was time to treat the girl children honourably. L.B. College principal Suryanarayana lamented that it was bad to discriminate against the girl children in the age of science. The women occupied equal status and were not second to men in any field. They proved their might in all fields from flying rockets to ruling the governments. DEO T. Lingaiah attended the function as chief guest and said there were only 961 per 1,000 men in the society.
