HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday emphasised the need for inculcating the spirit of unity and discipline among the youth to build a strong nation.
He was addressing the NCC contingent from the State that participated in the 58th Republic Day parade in New Delhi and won 10 trophies and medals.
The Andhra Pradesh NCC Directorate bagged first position and finished over all runners-up in the Prime Minister Banner competition, missing the top position by a whisker.
They were adjudged the "most improved contingent" at the national level. Notable among the achievements by the State contingents was the `All-India best cadet award', won by senior cadet Ankitha Sista.
Deputy Director General of Andhra Pradesh NCC Directorate Air Commodore A. C. Bharali thanked the Chief Minister for the encouragement and help provided by the Government.
Lt. Col. M.S. Balaji led the NCC Republic Day contingent.
